One way I create that space is with a simple phrase a
wise mentor taught me: “I am that too.” When I would
come to her complaining about someone else, she
would ask me to recall a time when I behaved similarly.
She would also remind me of my belief in oneness with
all things, including those one might prefer to
condemn, as part of a journey toward compassion and
non-separation.
